No. 7 Georgetown cruises past RedStorm

RIO GRANDE, Ohio - Seventh-ranked Georgetown (Ky.) College remained unbeaten in Mid-South Conference men's volleyball play by virtue of a 25-16, 26-24, 25-16 win over the University of Rio Grande, Thursday night, at the Newt Oliver Arena.     The Tigers improved to 17-3 overall and 8-0 in league play with the straight sets victory.     Rio Grande dropped to 5-15 overall and 2-6 in the RSC with a fourth consecutive loss.     Georgetown dominated the first and third sets at the net, finishing set one with 13 kills and no errors in 20 attacks for a .650 swing percentage and closing set three with 10 kills and one error in 17 attacks for a .529 attack percentage.     Rio Grande actually trailed just 9-8 in the opening set before the Tigers went on a 7-1 run to take control.     Georgetown never trailed in set three, but it was 6-1 spurt which helped the visitors grab a 16-9 lead and take control.     Set two saw the RedStorm do something that no other MSC opponent has done to the Tigers this season - win a set.     Rio led as late as 23-22 in the period, but the visitors scored four of the final five winners to grab a commanding match lead and set up the eventual straight sets win.     Georgetown finished the match with 33 kills and nine errors in 65 swings for a .369 attack percentage.     Rio Grande finished with 27 kills and 14 errors in 68 swings for a .191 percentage.     Sophomore Tyler Miller-Bross (Loveland, OH) had 10 kills to pace the RedStorm in the loss, while sophomore Seth Mohr (Canton, OH) had 23 assists and junior Caden Donaldson (Jackson, OH) had five digs.     Sophomore Ethan Johnson (Hamilton, OH) also had a solo block and a block assist in a losing cause.     Georgetown was led by Krzysztof Kowalski with eight kills, with Kacper Dobrowolski recording 31 assists and CJ Bride finishing with 10 digs.     The Tigers also got seven block assists from Tyree Wesley.     Rio Grande is scheduled to return to action on Saturday at Goshen (Ind.) College.     First serve is set for 3 p.m.
